Berrying in the valleys

From July till September the thicksets of blackberries and cowberries in the mountains around Pylypets are covered with tasty precious berries.

It is worthy of note that blackberries and cowberries are the perennial plants with small oval leaves. Blackberry is of the family of cowberries and grows for 30-40 years. In autumn the leaves of blackberry get yellow and red colors. So, the Borzhava Valley transforms and “burns in fire”, an incomparable scene
Cowberry is an evergreen plant and it winters well under snow without changing its dark-green color. The leaves of cowberry are as good as the berries are. A bush of cowberries grows for about 100 years!
The blackberries and the cowberries are widely used in culinary and also for medical use. So, the cooks of the Grand Hotel Pylypets preserve the berries during the berry season for their restaurant chef-d’oeuvres.
Every year in August the blackberry festival is held in the Carpathian Mountains near the Grand Hotel Pylypets.
